Many people have complained of racial discrimination when using AirBnb through the trending Twitter hashtag #AirBnbWhileBlack.

The 20th Century saw landmark legislation like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Fair Housing Act of 1968. But the 20th Century couldn’t anticipate some of the problems that would arise with the sharing economy, which only gained popularity in the last decade.
